WALT: Tell the time using the lunar calendar.
We have learned about the lunar calendar which is used to tell the time and date by looking at the stars and the moon. The lunar calendar is a traditional Maori Calendar system.
Maori changed days of the week have been to different names cause the Maori think its easier to say.
They changed Monday - Moon day to Mane then changed it again to Rahina. Then changed Tuesday - Turei to Ratu etc. The story of why the Maori gave Tuesday the name Ratu is because the greeks gave Mars a name after their god of war Ares. Maori wanted to as well, so they used Tumatauenga (the Maori god of war)

I was confused with the Maori changing the Gregorian calendar.
